Dr. John Bible Hackworth, Jr., 74, of South Pittsburg, TN died Saturday, December 17, 2011.

The son of the late John Bible and Dixie Hensley Hackworth, he was a Vietnam Veteran having served two tours. He soloed and earned his flight wings as a Navy Flight Surgeon at Pensacola, FL and went on to serve with a Marine Air Group at Marble Mountain in De Nang. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he sang in the UT Choir before graduating with his Bachelor's degree and going on to receive his Medical degree from UT Memphis.

Dr. Hackworth was a Family Practitioner for over 30 years in South Pittsburg and was a member at First Baptist Church, South Pittsburg where he sang in the choir for many years. He was also a Gideon and a member of the VFW, American Legion and a number of medical associations.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles James & Emily Hackworth; nephew, Jonathan R. Hackworth, niece, Julianna Hackworth all of Old Hickory, TN and a host of cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted from Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11am Central time with Rev. Brad Bridgman officiating.

There will be no visitation.
