John Robert Mayfield, 80, of South Pittsburg, TN died unexpectedly Friday, August 9th. The son of the late Jeff and Ada Mayfield, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army in Korea, a merchant marine for 7 years, and retired from Boeing Aircraft after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in South Pittsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Russo Mayfield; two sisters, Catherine Holder and Betty Ann (Gerald) Thomas all of South Pittsburg; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 12th at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg from 5-8 PM CST.
Services will be conducted Tuesday, August 13th at 10:00 AM Central from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in South Pittsburg with Father Mark Scholz officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 704 Holly Avenue, South Pittsburg, TN.
