Obituary
HALETOWN - John Russell "Smitty" Brown, 83, passed away in a Chattanooga hospital on Friday, March 9, 2018.
Smitty retired from TVA after working there for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn M. Brown; father, Bill Lynch; mother and step-father, Leta K. Jones and William Richard Brown, as well as five half-brothers and one half-sister.
Survivors include his sisters, Patsy Geer of Haletown and Minnie B. Beasley of Athens; half-brother, Terry Lee Lynch; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 11:00 am with Pastor Roy Hogan officiating.
Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Jasper.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, March 12, from 2-8 pm and on Tuesday, March 13, from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, 21 East Fifth Street, Jasper. 423-942-2682
