Joyce Smith "Joy" Miller, 65, of Lexington, AL, formerly of Bridgeport, AL, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of the late Andrew Monroe Smith, Jr. and Katherine Payne Smith, she was a clerk at Bellefonte and Browns Ferry Nuclear Plants for 10 years until she retired from the public workforce to become a full-time mom. She loved her family and enjoyed spending her time caring for and doting on her children, step-children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Bridgeport Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her grandparents, Andrew and Sally Samples Smith, John O. and Delia Murray Payne and husband, Stevie Miller.

She is survived by her sons, James (Tracy) Austin of Lexington, AL, Jason (Heather) Austin of Guntersville, AL, Chris (Paige) Miller of Athens, AL, Jeremy (Sunny) Miller of Birmingham, AL and Jon (Amanda) Miller of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Joshua, Megan, Andrew, Allie and Evan Austin, Madison, Emily, Reese and Kennedy Miller; brother, Jim Ambuehl of Little Falls, MN; and several cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 11am Central time on Saturday, April 14, 2012 with Brother Glenn Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 13th from 4-6pm Central time at the funeral home.
