Julia Faye Steele, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at her home surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and close friends.
A devoted Southern Baptist, she was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for 37 years. Faye lived a life of compassion and unwavering faith. Her warm spirit and beautiful smile touched everyone who knew her.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, John "Fuzzy" Steele; parents, Daniel and Mattie Rich, Polly Gass; brothers, Jackie, Bobby, George and Cecil Rich.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Ryan) Phillips of Jasper, TN, and Keith (Alesha) Steele of New Hope, TN, ; five grandchildren, Keyle and Josh Henderson, Savannah Phillips, Trent Phillips and Brooklyn Steele; two brothers, Ray (Sharon) Rich and Ronnie (Renae) Rich; sisters in laws, Susie Belk, Ann Rich and Sarah Jackson.
Faye was known for her beautiful salt and pepper hair, her comforting presence and her love of southern cooking which brought joy to countless gatherings and the sick.
Her family invites those who knew her to write down their favorite memory or story to be placed in a memory box – a keepsake to celebrate her legacy.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Steele officiating.
Mrs. Steele will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, John Steele, at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jasper, Tennessee.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CDT) and on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. (CDT) prior to the funeral service at the South Pittsburg Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Keith Steele, Mike Rich, Rowdy Rich, Buddy Rich, Brandon Cooper, and Trent Phillips.
In lieu of Flowers please consider donating to the Bentley Buchanan Memorial Scholarship fund at Builtwell Bank.
