Obituary

Kermit R. Brooks, Jr. "Junior", 72, of the Sweeden's Cove Community near South Pittsburg, died suddenly May 15, 2007.He was the son of the late Kermit R. and Margaret Elizabeth Brooks, and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. The former owner and operator of Brooks Grocery in South Pittsburg, he had also worked for many years as Packing House Supervisor for Penn-Dixie Cement, and had retired in 2002 from the Marion County Highway Department. A 1953 graduate of Whitwell High School, "Junior" was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and friend who loved to raise his garden and fish in his spare time.He is survived by his wife, Ina Parker Brooks of South Pittsburg, two sons, Barry (Tammy) Brooks and Bruce (Jan) Brooks, all of South Pittsburg; six grandchildren, Canan and Chris Brooks, Elizabeth Gudger, Wendy Brooks, and B. J. and Andrew Rogers; two great-grandchildren, Grace Brooks and Brooks Gudger; three brothers, John Brooks of Manchester, TN, Charles Brooks of Jefferson, GA, and Jerry Brooks of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.Services will be held in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 3:00pm CDT on Thursday, May 17, 2007. Interment will be in Beene-Raulston Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home.
