Mrs. Lavona H. Scissom, 91, formerly of South Pittsburg, TN died Sunday, October 18, 2009. The daughter of the late Joseph Bailey and Lou Ada Haynes, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Bridgeport and had worked for over 30 years as a Nurse Assistant at Tri-City Clinic and South Pittsburg Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude T. Scissom.
She is survived by five daughters, Bobbie (Dale) Blevins of Clarksville, TN, Carolyn (Bob) Weseman of Orange Park, Florida, Sandra (Alex) Bontemps of Signal Mountain, TN, Linda Jones of Franklin, TN and Betty (John) Coates of Anderson, SC; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Inez Fenney.
She will be remembered by many patients she cared for, for many years at Tri City Hospital and South Pittsburg Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 3:00 PM CST with Reverend Tedd Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 PM until service time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
