Leah Nicole "Bug" Mitchell, age 10, of Clarksville, Tennessee, formerly of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

"She was proof you didn't need words to make a difference in the world."

Affectionately called "LeahBug," she liked being read to, being held, swimming, and listening to music. She was an advocate and difference-maker in CMV legislation in Tennessee and was a member of LifePoint Church in Clarksville.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Charlotte Wordlaw; great-grandparents, Bob Hookey, Waymon Layne, Shirley Mitchell and Kenneth Mitchell.

She is survived by her parents, Erica Layne Butler, Montrell Mitchell, and Jonathan Butler; sister, Phoenix Rose Butler; grandparents, Jaime & Shane Moore, Jimmy & Jennifer Layne, Terry Mitchell, and Renee & Walter Butler; great-grandparents, Sally Hookey, Nancy Layne, Sally McMillan, Thelma "Lou" Hutchins, and Terry Cunningham; aunts and uncles, Corey & Leah Layne, Joey Layne, Derek & Brooke Layne, Jacie Layne, Chandler McBee, Chloe McBee, Abigail Layne, Rebecca Moore, Ladreamer Garrett, Karrell Hutchins, and Jasmine Butler; dear friends and caregivers, Rebecca Bailey and Krystal Miranda; special great aunt, Warnette Wordlaw Hutchins; and a host of cousins, great aunts & uncles, other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Central time at Grace Baptist Church, 518 Elm Avenue, South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Interment will be in Patton Annex Cemetery in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Grace Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 26th, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 27th beginning at 12:00 Noon Central time.
