Lela Evelyn Payne passed away Friday, February 25th in a local nursing home.
Yesterday would have been her 94th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mark Payne Sr., sons, Mark Payne, Jr., David Payne, Sr., and Charles Payne and an infant granddaughter, Lela Payne; brothers, Mack Pritchett, C.W. Pritchett and Bob Pritchett and a sister, Beatrice Pelham.
She was a faithful member of the Kimball Church of Christ. "Granny Payne" as she was lovingly known by all those whose lives she touched, was a devoted mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Until her diagnosis with Parkinson's she enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking and was very active working for the Lord and helping others. During her four year stay at The Bridge Nursing Home, she remained a faithful Christian example and eagerly awaited each Sunday so she could attend the church service and worship God.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Evelyn (Hollis) Rogers; special daughters-in-law, Rose Payne, Kate Payne and Marilyn Payne; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Kimball Church of Christ on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 3 pm Central with Tim Storey and Billy Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, February 28, 2011 from 5-9 PM Central time at the Kimball Church of Christ.
