Leonard Westmoreland, 86, of the Ladds Community near Guild, TN died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at St. Barnabas in Chattanooga.

The son of the late Morris and Bonnie Katherine Higdon Westmoreland, he lived and worked on his family's farm his entire life. He also worked for over 30 years as an engineering aid at TVA's Widows Creek Steam Plant and owned Ladds Grocery, Bait and Tackle for more than 25 years. He attended Ladds Chapel Church of God and was also preceded in death by his sister, Margie Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Reva Westmoreland of Ladds, sons Wayne (Diane) Westmoreland of Murfreesboro, Harold Westmoreland of Ladds, and Pete (Vicky) Westmoreland of Bryant, AL; grandchildren, Megan (Robin) Ashe, Mary Grace (Chris) Harden, Amanda Westmoreland, Matt (Katie) Westmoreland, John Westmoreland, Annabelle Westmoreland, Preston Westmoreland, Jack Caffey and Ashley Caffey; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 6-9pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 4pm Central time. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.

The family expresses their deep gratitude to the nursing staff of St. Barnabas for the loving and tender care they provided during Mr. Westmoreland's illness.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
