Leroy Johnson, 83 of South Pittsburg, TN, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014.
Born in Natchez, Mississippi to the late Richard and Martha McCoy Haynes, he moved to South Pittsburg in his teen years. He was a long-time member of Brakebill AME Church and worked as a construction worker for TVA-Widow's Creek for 31 years. Leroy loved to fish and play scratch off lottery tickets, with which he won two large jackpot prizes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie and Jack Johnson, grandson, Chris Johnson and granddaughter, Charlotte Wordlaw.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lena Mae Johnson of South Pittsburg; his children, Terry Cunningham, Jerry Cunningham, Wendy Johnson Hale, Tammy Lankford, Giovannia Lee Johnson, Lajuana Lovelady, Nicole Mobley and Lisa Mobley all of South Pittsburg, and Sylvia Green of Stevenson, AL; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Washington and Amy Fleming both of Natchez, MS.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 2 pm Central time with Rev. Paul Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, TN.
A wake will be held on Friday from 1 PM Central time until service time at the funeral home.
