Louie Hill, 83, of New Hope died Wednesday in a Chattanooga hospital. He was the son of the late Thomas H. and Damie Henegar Hill, an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of Antioch Baptist Church, and for 30 years was a Pilot on the Tennessee River Ferry between South Pittsburg and New Hope.He is survived by his wife, Opal Reynolds Hill; his children Diane Hill and Steve Raulston of South Pittsburg, Doris and Rachel Leon Stockman of Trenton, GA; Thomas Hill and Sonya Marona of South Pittsburg; granddaughters Melody Castleberry of Trenton and Sarah Johnson of Higdon, AL; one great-granddaughter Chloe Johnson; and a sister, Ruby Hawkins of Bryant, AL.Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19, at 2:00pm with Rev. Jim Thomas officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday between the hours of 5:00 and 9:00pm.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
