Payne Dawkins
August 24, 1930 – January 1, 2015
Mrs. Lula Frances Payne Dawkins, 84, of Bridgeport, AL passed away from Alzheimer's on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
Mrs. Dawkins was a life-long resident of Bridgeport. She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for many local businesses and was an exceptional seamstress and cook. She was a proud cancer survivor and encouraged others as they battled the disease. Mrs. Dawkins was a faithful Christian and a member of Kimball Church of Christ.
Mrs. Dawkins was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 yrs., Leon Dawkins. She was also preceded by her parents, Daniel Turney Payne and Trilby Walker Payne.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary L. and Jane Wilson Dawkins of South Pittsburg, TN; grandson, Gary Tyler Dawkins and his wife, Mary Katherine of Kimball, TN; great-granddaughter, Sophie Grace Dawkins; one sister, Christine P. Farley of Bridgeport; and two nieces Corinne F. Hendrix & family and Stephanie F. Bedsole & family.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Central time on Sunday, January 4, 2015 with Billy Watkins officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, TN.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
