Marguerite "Maggie" Robinson White, 79, of South Pittsburg, TN died at her home on October 25, 2010.
Preceded in death by her parents, Fred C. and Nell Spivey Robinson and brother, T. Jack Robinson, Mrs. White was a member of Holly Avenue United Methodist Church, active with the Marion County Foster Children Board and instrumental in getting the bust of Sequoyah outside South Pittsburg's Beene-Pearson Library. She directed the first two South Pittsburg Junior Miss pageants, served on the Beene-Pearson library board and South Pittsburg Elementary Parent Teacher Association. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, The American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. R.B. "Bob" White of South Pittsburg; sons, Robert B. White, Jr. of Carmel, IN and Jack R. White of Dayton, TN; grandson, R. Barrett White, III of Hoover, AL; sister-in-law, Jane (C.G.) Prospere of Natchez, MS; niece, Susan Prospere of Houston, TX; nephews, Jim Prospere of Los Angeles, CA, Robert (Kathy) Prospere of Natchez, MS, Fred (Katie) Robinson and Pat (Ashley) Robinson, both of Dayton, TN, Brian Robinson of Charlotte, NC and Miller (Deanna) Robinson of Dayton, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted at Holly Avenue United Methodist Church in South Pittsburg on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 10:00 AM Central Time with Rev. Anthony Grills officiating. Interment will be in Spivey Cemetery in Dayton, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, October 28th from 5-8 pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
