Obituary

Anna Marie Smith, 88, of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Anna Marie Smith of Chattanooga passed away peacefully in her sleep at her South Pittsburg home on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

Marie was born in South Pittsburg, TN on January 20, 1934, to the late Cecil and Fannie Lou Smith.  She graduated from MTSU and returned to Chattanooga to work for EPB.  After a brief career at EPB, Marie had the opportunity to return to her alma mater and work as Director of Alumni until her retirement, when she chose to return home be closer to her mom.  She was a longtime member and devoted parishioner of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chattanooga.

Everyone who knew Marie was touched by her famous smile and kind voice, traits that were a trademark of the Riverside Chevrolet Buick GMC family, where she worked for an additional 22 years after her retirement from MTSU.  Throughout her life, Marie's greatest accomplishments were most profoundly felt by her constant presence in the lives of her friends and family.  From scheduled gatherings with her lunch ladies, to every birthday and holiday with her family, Marie had a unique gift of making every moment feel significant and everyone feel special.

She is survived by Sue (Don) Huffman of Chattanooga; Heather (Andrew) Rogers and their children Jackson, Ella Grey, and Hadley Elise of Chattanooga; Michelle (Ted) Wells of Chattanooga; Chris Huffman and children Alivia, Caitlyn, and Lily of Jacksonville, Florida, along with an exquisite collection of friends and family all of whom loved her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 11AM Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, November 10 th with a light reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in memory of Marie.

Arrangements are entrusted to Roger Funeral Home of South Pittsburg, 400 Laurel Ave., South Pittsburg, TN 37380 (423)-837-7176
