IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion
Grider
October 15, 2020
Marion Grider peacefully departed this earthly life at his home on the beautiful morning of October 15, 2020 with his wife and son by his side.
He fought a lengthy and courageous battle while never losing his sense of humor. Marion was 67 years old. He was born in Doran's Cove, Alabama to Harold and Jewell Smith Grider. He moved to the family farm at the age of three. He lived his entire life and raised cattle. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1971 and attended Northeast Alabama Community College. He was a long-time employee of Vinson's Repairs and retired in 2016. He was an active member of the South Pittsburg Church of Christ where he served as deacon and song leader. He was a volunteer with the National Cornbread Festival on the Arts & Crafts committee. He enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, boating, motorcycle riding and hunting. However, his favorite past time was being Pop to Cameron and Callie. He was a loving husband, father and Pop.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Berry and Callie Hunter Grider. His maternal grandparents, Herb and Bertie Cantrell Smith, his mother Jewell Smith Grider and several aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Mary Miles Cameron Grider, his son and daughter-in-law Andy and Amy Grider, grandson Cameron Grider, granddaughter Callie Grider, father Harold Grider, brother Doyle Grider, sisters Janet (Jimmy) Thomas and Debbie (Sam) Durham, two nieces and two nephews, three great nephews and one great niece.
Many thanks to our friends and family for the overwhelming love and concern shown during this time. We sincerely appreciate you all. Thanks to Stephanie and Ashlyn with Amedisys Hospice for their kindness and support.
