Martin Church, Jr., of Kimball, Tennessee passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the age of 85.
Martin (Junior to many) was born on March 7, 1931 in Tracy City, Tennessee to the late Martin Church, Sr. and Tennie Anderson Church. He married Iva Jean Brown on August 12, 1950. He was a member of the Gum Springs Congregational Methodist Church in Tracy City and the Sewanee Masonic Lodge #405 F&AM. Martin was co-owner of the Otasco store in South Pittsburg for more than twenty years and was also a co-owner and operator of Marion Sand & Gravel. Later, he worked various jobs as a heavy equipment operator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Clarence Church, Martha Brown and Alice Lockhart, and son-in-law, Pete Wilkerson.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Iva Jean Brown Church of Kimball; sister, Emma Jean Layne of Tracy City, TN; four children, Brenda Wilkerson of Kimball, TN, James (Terri) Church, Jerry (Martha) Church both of South Pittsburg, and Beverly (Jim) Lee of Stevenson, AL; nine grandchildren, Kelly Wilkerson, Lonnie (Kristin) Wilkerson both of Nashville, TN, Amy (Drew) Carver, David (Joni) Church, Matthew (Brett) Church, Abby (Matt) Massengale all of South Pittsburg, TN, Derrick Rogers of Ann Arbor, MI, Dustin Rogers of Hixson, TN and Corey Rogers of Stevenson, AL; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and his Saturday morning breakfast crew.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Central time on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 with Brother Ernest Lockhart officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm Central time at the funeral home.
