Mary Kirk Goforth, 79, of Richard City, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at her residence.She was the daughter of the late Albert and Evelyn Steel Kirk. She was a member of Richard City Baptist Church, where she played the piano at church and in the community for years; retired from Revco; owned and operated Mary Jim's Restaurant in Stevenson for many years and owned and operated Midway Car Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Goforth.She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Jimmy) Taylor, Betty Ann (Ronnie) Lancaster, and Barbara (Earl) Blevins, her son Larry (Joyce) Haggard, step-children Margaret (Joe) Pennington, Marilyn (Curtis) Minor, Jimmy (Pearlie) Goforth, and Edith (Walt) Muirhead, 24 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren, a sister, Dot Graham and three nieces.The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.Services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, Friday, March 7 at 11:00 AM., CST, with the Rev. Johnny Anderson and Rev. Ronnie Case officiating. Interment in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
