Mary Jane Joyner Brown, 84, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died Friday, November 17, 2017.
The daughter of the late James Raymond and Lydia Mae Shubirg Joyner, she was a longtime member of the Kimball Church of Christ, and was the owner/operator of the Shoe Barn for 25 years. She was active at Richard Hardy Memorial School for many years serving as Room Mother and PTA President. She was a member of the MCHS Sports Hall of Fame, the Chattanooga Realtors Association, the South Pittsburg Garden Club (now the SP Ladies Club), a past co-chair of the South Pittsburg Historic Preservation Society, and loved her evenings with the Bunco club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jere
Raymond Brown, Sr.; and brothers, David Raymond "D. R." Joyner and Tommy Joyner.
She is survived by her children, Julia (D.H. Brown) Winters of Red Bank, Tennessee, and Jere (Deena) Brown of Kimball, Tennessee; grandchildren, Danielle Winters, Josh (Whitney) Winters, Tiffany Brown and Jake Brown; three great-grandchildren, Destiny, Tre and Jaxon; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Kimball Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. central time on Monday, November 20, 2017, with Billy Watkins, officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tennessee.
The family will gather with friends for visitation from 4:00 - 8:00 p. m. central time on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of the Greater Chattanooga Area, Inc., 2300 East 3rd Street, Suite B, Chattanooga, TN 37404, www.kidneyfoundation.com, or to the Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416, www.hospiceofchattanooga.org.
