Obituary

After a long, and fulfilling life, Mary Lou Teague Myres, 99, of Jasper, TN, the daughter of the late Lon and Clara Teague transitioned from this world to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

Mary Lou was born and raised in Jasper, TN.  She was married to William H. Myres, who served in the United States Army.  They enjoyed the military lifestyle, and made their home in Jasper, TN when William retired.

Mary Lou was employed as a Teacher Assistant with the Marion County Board of Education for 38 years.  She absolutely loved her time at Jasper Elementary School, and was beloved by students and staff alike. She would often share colorful stories of the children she encountered over the years.  She would say, "All young'uns are bad, and will test you. That is where the parenting and teaching comes in." Mary Lou fully understood it takes a village to raise a child, and she was willing to be part of that village for any child.

Mary Lou was of the Baptist faith.  She was an active member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jasper, TN, where her servitude to her Lord and Savior began at an early age.  Her talents allowed her to serve as the church secretary, she served on various committees, fund raising initiatives, and naturally, she worked with the children of the church to share countless Easter and Christmas programs.

Left to cherish her life and legacy are her daughter, Margaret Edwards, granddaughter Kellie Edwards, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper with Gregory Ludy officiating.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the chapel service at the funeral home in Jasper.

Mary Lou will be laid to rest with her beloved husband William Henry Myres on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. (EST) at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Edward Cobb, Adam Gott, Jacob Gott, Rick Gott, Joseph Neal Pryor, Wayne Westmoreland
