Obituary

Mary Elaine (Kennemore) Nelms went to join our heavenly father on Wednesday May 6, 2020 at the age of 69, surrounded by family.

Elaine was born with her twin brother Wayne to John Willis and Flora Paralee (Blevins) Kennemore on November 10, 1950 in New Hope Tennessee.  She joined an already large family being the 11 th of 13 children born to John and Paralee.  Elaine grew up and attended school in New Hope.  She married Owen "Rooter" Barnes on October 19, 1965 and bore three children, Owen L. Barnes Jr., Constance P. Barnes and Jerry T. Barnes.  She later married Daniel "Papa Dan" Nelms on December 2, 1989.

Elaine's greatest loves in life were her husband Dan, her children, grandchildren and family.  She was always an integral part in arranging and facilitating the annual Kennemore Family Reunion and Family Christmas gathering.  Elaine enjoyed NASCAR, watching boxing and football, and was an avid Tennessee VOLS fan, tanning and spending time with family.  She took great pride in her role as Grandma and always made time to attend her grandchildren's sporting events and other special occasions.

She is survived by her husband Dan, her children Owen, Constance and Jerry (Sarah) Barnes, brothers; John Lewis "JL"(Dorothy), Philip Gene, Wesley Hope (Mavis), Earnest Ray (Joan), Royce (Renee), Jerry Don (Jane), and Marion Wayne (Debbie) Kennemore; her sister Karen Elise (Cliff) Raulston, grandchildren Justin Lee Barnes, Myosha (Ryan) Westbrooks, Trevor (Rachel) Barnes, Devon-Tae' Reddicks, KaShae' Reddicks, Joesph Lilly, Edtayshia Lilly and several great grandchildren.  Elaine is predeceased by her parents, her brothers; Joe Clarence "Bob", Hershel LeRoy, and Thomas Harold Kennemore, and her sister Flora Ailene Kennemore.
