Mary Ellen Purcell Grizzle passed away at her home in Woodstock, GA, on Thursday, March 10, 2011. She was born March 29, 1924, in Richard City, TN, and lived in Chattanooga, TN and Woodstock, GA most of her life.
She was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church and a former employee of T. J. Maxx Department Store in Hixson, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Nina Mae Frame Purcell; sister, Glenna Dean Purcell; and brother, Charles William Purcell.
Survivors include daughter, Janis Grizzle Brigham and son, Robert Denton Grizzle, Jr., both of Atlanta, GA; brother, Arthur Purcell, Jr., of Ooltewah, TN; grandchildren, Ronelle, Austin, and Amanda Grizzle; great-granddaughter, Shayla, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. CST on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Cumberland View Cemetery, with Rev. Roger Webb officiating, with Rogers Funeral Home of South Pittsburg in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
