Obituary

Mayme Northcutt Burnett, 99, of South Pittsburg, TN died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the home of her devoted niece. She was the fourth of six daughters of the late William and Ida Prince Northcutt and was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years as Grand Worthy Matron of the Order of the Easter Star and had been a very active member of the Bethel AME Church in South Pittsburg and other civic and social organizations. She is survived by nieces, Gwendolyn J. Hill, Billie J. Wylie both of Chattanooga, and Hilda Aker of South Pittsburg; nephews, John L. Jordan of South Pittsburg, Kenneth U. Jordan of Kimball and Walter Watson of Atlanta; devoted cousins and friends, Julia White of South Pittsburg, Jean Sims of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Jewel B. Ridley of Humboldt, TN and Josie B. Anderson of Milan, TN; cousin Olga N. Moore of San Gabriel, CA and god-child, Cheryl Sims McCray of Chattanooga. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 10 at 1:00 PM CST with Rev. John Morris officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 9 from 4-6 PM CST at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4355 Hwy. 58, Suite 101, 58 Commons Building, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
