Obituary

Meredith Corley Hubbard, 59, South Pittsburg, TN She was described by those of us who were blessed to know her, as strong. She was strong physically, mentally and spiritually. She was described as selfless. She always put others needs and wants before hers. Loyal and supportive were frequently used to describe her in friendship, profession and especially by her family. She always offered her strength, wise advice, and faithfulness to those she loved. She was a woman deeply respected and loved. Rather it be spunky, feisty, or stubborn, all agreed she had that sass about her. She spoke the truth and did not hold back her opinion or beliefs, and she was usually right! Ginger, her daughter, described her as the most giving, strong woman and her very best friend. They had an unusually close relationship. She too, had an incredible relationship with Nycollette, her only grandchild, who was the source of her last smile and hug. Nycollette was her pride and joy. When Ginger married Robert she gained a son who she simply adored. She loved him so and thought of him as a genuinely good man and a loving and caring husband and father. Meredith Lanelle Corley Hubbard was born October 1, 1952 in Lubbock, Texas where she grew up a tom boy, playing in the mud and matured to a young woman with bright beautiful blue eyes and a pearly white perfect smile. Meredith relocated to Tennessee to be with her immediate family and her in-laws, for the remainder of her days where she, Ginger, and Nycollette made many wonderful memories. Meredith lost her battle with pancreatic cancer February 2012. She passed peacefully in her sleep and some of her last words were that she was ready to go to heaven. Meredith was pre-deceased by her mother, Ruby Inez Robinson Corley, her father, Jessie Marion Corley, her brother Mark Randall Corley and all four of her grandparents. Meredith is survived by her only child, Ginger Hubbard Helms and her family, husband Robert Helms and granddaughter, Nycollette Helms who was the apple of Meredith's eyes. Nycollette was Meredith's "greatest gift". She is also survived by Ina Robinson Phares of Lubbock, Texas, her maternal aunt, who played a large and prominent roll in her life and her paternal aunt Idahlia Corley Hedgeof Midwest City, Oklahoma, who she had a special relationship with; and their families. Meredith was blessed with many "special" friends in her lifetime, all who were with her and offered great support throughout all. She was an Emergency Communications Specialist at Lakeland Police Department in Lakeland, Florida. There she gained a second "family". Meredith, in her life, experienced living in and traveling to many states, mastered being a pilot, and was a successful horse trainer and a Nascar enthusiast. Ginger asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Amedysis Hospice of Monteagle, Tennessee; Moffitt Cancer Center of Tampa, Florida or to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research.
