Obituary

Mrs. Myrtle Colston Kelly,  passed away at her home Saturday, September 5, 2020.

She was born February 9, 1940 in Whitwell, TN to Joe V. and Myrtle Colston.  She was the youngest of ten children. She attended Marion County High School, MTSU and received her masters degree from Trevecca Nazarene College. "Muff" as she was widely known, started her teaching career at Whiteside Elementary, spending over thirty years teaching history at MCHS before her retirement.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Dosie" Kelly; four sisters and four brothers; her children Karen (Pete) Moditz; MaryAnne (John) Slavnik; and Robert (Fran) Kelly;  brother, Jerry Colston;  grandchildren, Chris Moditz; Clarissa (Haitham) Moditz; Joe (Erika) Kelly; John Slavnik and Kelly Slavnik; great grandchildren, Tucker and Braelyn; special nephew Jeffrey (Glenda) Bolton; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.


A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Gilliam Cemetery in Battle Creek, TN, with The Reverend Isaac Blevins officiating.

Interment will be at Gilliam Cemetery.

Visitation will be private for family members prior to the graveside service at Rogers Funeral Home  in Jasper, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St John's Episcopal Church or the Carolyn Stewart Public Library, Jasper TN
