Obituary

Surrounded by his loving family, Nathaniel Curington Sr., AKA's (Neely and G.I. Brown) took his final bow May 24, 2013. He was born May 15, 1934, in South Pittsburg TN.
Daddy, exited this world in a very dignified and peaceful manner. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran, receiving the Purple Heart at the age of 16. Dad was a soldier and stood guard until he took his last breath.
People knew him by his story telling and always knew he was near by his distinguished loud voice but that was daddy. His passion was fishing at the mouth of the creek catching large mouth bass and frying them until they were golden brown. Daddy was a great cook that could make a mean pot of chili and skillet of cornbread. If you stopped by dad's house you were likely to see a big white empty cup sitting beside him on the floor. Chances are that he had just polished off some buttermilk and cornbread, which, was his favorite meal. Everyone also knew that until dad became ill, the bingo bus did not move with out him on Saturdays.
His parents, George W. Sr. and Addie Bell Curington; brothers Charles, William, John, George Jr. Curington and a sister Rachel Emma preceded Nathaniel in death.
He leaves behind 9 children: a devoted daughter, Angela Curington of Atlanta, GA, Carol Curington of Fircrest, WA, Cheryl Curington of Jasper, TN, Charlsie Bynum of Jasper, TN, Bernice McClure and Della Peterson both of Knoxville, TN; 9 brothers and sisters: Mary Jo Branch of Buffalo, NY, Rachel Nelson of Bronx, NY, Francis Maureen Earls and Addie Bell Horton of Chattanooga TN, Frank Curington of Washington, DC, Fredrick Curington of Pontiac, MI, Jerome Curington and David Curington of Chattanooga TN and Thomas Curington of South Pittsburg, TN; Special Friend, Karla Tompkins; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grand children, along with a numerous amount of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from Grace Baptist Church in South Pittsburg on Thursday, May 30th at 11:00 am Central time. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm Central time at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, May 29th from 7-8pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
