Paul David Gass
October 18, 1960 – November 6, 2026
South Pittsburg, Tennessee
Paul David Gass, age 66, entered Heaven’s gates on Friday, November 6, 2026. His final days were spent in the midst of the peaceful beauty of his and Rebekah’s Poor Hollow Farm with all his loved ones close by. A “true cowboy” Paul knew the value of a horse far better than most, and provided for his family with his tremendous skill in horse trading. He could spot a good horse from quite a distance. Paul’s determination to succeed and build a future for his family on the farm was evident. With Rebekah working by his side, together they built a life to serve the next generation. It was her great honor to be his wife. Paul loved children and the simple things in life. He hunted, traded horses, did leather work, raised cattle and horses and worked hard every day. He cherished time on his land and at the creek. The true joy of his life was his young daughter, Sara Emma. She was his shining star. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish Paul’s memory are his wife, Rebekah; his children, Sara Emma Gass, John Wells, Jacob Wells, Josh (Kendall) Wells, Christopher (Haley) Masterson, mother-in-law Retta Bolden and his grandchildren, Briley, Jaxxon, Bryan, Alex and Diego.
Other loved family and friends include siblings Betty Jacob, Johnny (Dreva) Ladd, Mitchell (Teresa) Ladd, Tammy Henley and Thelma (Joey) Bennett. Dear to Paul are family members Larry and Amelia Johnson, Daniel and Amanda Boyd (Emma and Brayden Boyd), Nathan and Hally Johnson (Keiley James), Luke and Layney Johnson, Larry Bolden (Matthew and Amberly), Hayden Bracket, Anna Bolden, Tim and Shannon Bolden and sons. Very special lifelong friends include the Mike and Judy Chisenall Family and Roger Dale Mayfield.
Paul was preceded in death by his sons, David and Jeff Gass, his grandmother, Martha Ladd Hughes, his mother, Rachel Ladd Bishop and his father-in-law, Larry Bolden.
Paul Gass fought a courageous battle for several years. His love for his family was constant. The family would like to thank CHI Memorial and Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Melnikoff for the care Paul received. Larry and Amelia Johnson took care of Sara Emma and helped in too many ways to count. It will always be remembered and appreciated. Roger Dale Mayfield was present when Paul needed help the most. We will always remember him for that. The boys kept the farm going. That’s what our “true cowboy” wanted. Rebekah’s devotion to Paul knew no boundaries. She always stood by his side ensuring that he got the very best of care. There are countless others who cared, prayed and helped us on this journey with Paul. We will always be grateful.
