Blevins
November 26, 1926 – March 17, 2020
R. O. Blevins, 93, of New Hope, Tennessee went Home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in a local healthcare center.
The son of the late John Adam & Elizabeth Durham Blevins, he was a lifelong farmer. He worked for several years as the South Pittsburg Ferry Boat Operator, for the Marion County Highway Department, and for Sequatchie Valley Electric Cooperative. He was also a member of Marion Lodge #515 F&AM. He was a longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church and song director for several different churches.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert "Bobby" Blevins, four brothers, Riley, Hershel, Wash, and Eli Blevins, and two sisters, Nettie Searcy and Annie Long.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Jewell Barnes Blevins; sons, Jerry Don (Marlynn) Blevins and Waymon (Vickie) Blevins; grandchildren, Kristy (Stafan) Malsy, Jeremy (Regina) Blevins, Jason (Leslie) Blevins, and Chad (Julie) Blevins; great-grandchildren, Taylor Malsy, Aiden Blevins, Dakota Blevins, Lydia Blevins, Cole Blevins, Daniel Blevins and Taylor Malsy; special niece, Jane (Jerry) Kennemore; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to R.O.'s medical "angels," Barbara and Emma, and to all the staff at Choices and Silver Angels, and the faithful team of Hospice of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be held at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Central time on Friday, March 20, 2020 with Rev. Seth Tolliver, officiating. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
