Hartford R. "Big E." Evans, 83, of Whitwell, TN, died in a local hospital on June 7, 2010.

Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Jackson and Emma Rogers Pittman Evans, he was an Army Veteran of World War II and retired from TVA, Widow's Creek. Mr. Evans was also preceded in death by his sister, Geneva Rogers and brothers, Randolph Evans and Paul Evans.

He is survived by his wife, "Katie" Campbell Evans of Whitwell, sons, Jack (Sharon) Evans of Whitwell, Wayne (June) Evans of Kingston, TN, Murrell (Donna) Evans of Napomo, CA, Ray (Robin) Evans of Whitwell; daughter, Joyce Evans of Whitwell, eleven grandchildren, many great-grand children, one great-great granddaughter; sisters, Janice Annette Scruggs of Whitwell, Lois Logan of Fallbrush, KY and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 6pm - 9pm Central Time.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 11AM Central Time at the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper with Rev. Hershell Powell officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
