Robert Alvin Martin, age 79, of Cleveland, Tennessee, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Sequatchie, Tennessee, Bob had many interests. Most recently wine and beer-making, and gold-mining and dredging. His true passion, though, was his family. In the past few years he took great joy in doting on his first great grand-daughter.

His parent's family business took him to New Mexico where he graduated high school and joined the Army. Bob served in the Army from 1958 To 1962 primarily as an air traffic controller. His Army service and employment in various industries sent him from Tennessee to New Mexico, from Oklahoma to Germany, from Louisiana to Venezuela and back to Tennessee. All of these locations and travels gave Bob a wealth of knowledge of different cultures and an endless supply of colorful stories.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Robin Martin Long and grandchild, Dillon Long, four brothers, and one sister.

Bob is survived by his wife, Frances Lanora Rogers Martin; daughter, Cindy Jane Martin Lewis, and husband, Chris, of Cumming, Georgia; son, Robert A. Martin, Jr. and wife, Carrie, of Cleveland, Tennessee; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted, Thursday, March 28, 2019, at 1:30 PM central time at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, central time, on Thursday.
