Obituary

Robert "Pop" Mayfield, 83, of South Pittsburg, TN died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his home.


The son of the late William Arthur and Bertha Elizabeth Ladd Mayfield, he was a longtime employee of Penn-Dixie Cement Company, retired from Lodge Manufacturing and was a former employee of Dunlap Stone in Jasper, TN.


He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Albert, Raymond, Jerry, Tommy, John D., and William Mayfield; four sisters, Frances Wileman, Doris Murray, Pearl Rogers and Jennie Lou Mayfield; and daughter, Barbara Jean Mayfield.


He is survived by his wife, Louise Murray Mayfield of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; children, Jenny (Tommy) Curtis of Stevenson, Alabama, Willis (Teresa) Mayfield and Roger Mayfield both of Chattanooga; sisters, Grace Coffelt and Lois "Pete" Henley both of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; special friends, Bill White and Linda; numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm Central time with Rev. Ronnie Case officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.


The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday from 4-9 pm Central time at the funeral home.
