Robert Allen Gaines 60, of South Pittsburg died, Thursday, January 11, 2007 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Beene Gaines.
He was a 1963 graduate of McReynolds High School. Upon graduation he moved to New York where he worked as a Chef, later he moved to New Jersey where he was employed with the Public Water Works. He later relocated to South Pittsburg and worked for many years with the South Pittsburg Housing Authority, including 18 years for Chester Powell Senior Apartments. He was also a member of Randolph United Methodist Church.
"Bobby" is survived by his wife, Sarah Gaines of South Pittsburg; daughter, Anita Gaines of Chattanooga; his father, Robert Laster Gaines; sister, Ann Wellington both of Chattanooga; brothers, Billy Gaines of Huntsville, Johnny Gaines, James (Nicole) Gaines of Chattanooga, Eddie (Jeanette) Tipton of Kimball; sisters-in-law, Sandra Mitchell, Juliette (Charles) Gaines, Tyra Jackson and Bessie (Paul) Hale; brothers-in-law, James Mitchell, Ronald (Ramona) Mitchell; uncles, George Beene and Charles Gaines; aunts, Beulah Edwards, Mary and Cindy Beene and Beatrice Franklin; God-Children, Kevin Mitchell and Dominique Garrett; God-Grandchildren, Kyan, Kahlil, Kaija and Kristopher Mitchell all of South Pittsburg; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Sunday, January 14 at 2:00 PM CST with Reverend John Morris and Brother Louis Powell officiating. Interment will be in Gaines Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 PM CST at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
