Roger O'Dean (Dean)  Blevins  67, a lifelong resident of South Pittsburg, TN passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 due to complications from a massive stroke.

"Dean" was born in Bridgeport, Alabama on January 29, 1954 to Lonnie O'Dean and Emma Elizabeth (Durham) Blevins.  He was the eldest of 5 siblings.  Dean was always very proud to be "Big Brother" to Tommy, Mary Anne, Jeff and Cindy.

Dean attended Richard Hardy Memorial School and the Bridgeport, Alabama School System.  He was a very dedicated, loyal and industrious person – during High School, Dean delivered newspapers each morning before school for the Chattanooga News Free-Press. Dean was a proud 1975 graduate of Bridgeport High School.  After graduation, Dean became employed at Shaw industries, where he worked for 40 years, prior to his retirement.

He is preceded  in death by his parents, Lonnie and Emma Blevins; Brother, Tommy Blevins (infant) and Sister; Cynthia Denise (Blevins) Blount.  Several dear Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

He is survived by his Brother, Jeffery Miles (Cindy K.) Blevins and sister, Mary Anne Blevins -Newcom (Tim Jones), Niece, Emalee Blevins, Nephews, Rusty (Beth) Newcom, Michael (Joanna) Newcom, David (Tiffany) Meeks and Timothy Blevins, Great Niece, Julie Newcom; great Nephews, Jake Newcom, John-Will Newcom and Ryan Newcom, along with a host of cousins and friends.

Dean was of the Methodist faith and attended Wesley United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed life and had a simpleness about him.  He enjoyed music and played the piano by ear.  Dean loved visiting with family and friends.  He was an avid animal lover, his favorite pet was sweet "Lady Bug".  Dean loved the Tennessee Vols and was never seen without his GBO hat and Tennessee Vols attire!

Pallbearers will be Nephews: Rusty Newcom, Michael Newcom, David Meeks and Timothy Blevins.  Great Nephews:  Jake Newcom, John-Will Newcom and Ryan Newcom.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dale Howard, Tommy Steele, Jimmy Railey, David Frame, Joey Blevins and Gary Guinn.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. (CST) at Rogers Funeral Home, South Pittsburg, TN.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m.(CST) on  Friday, April 16, 2021, in the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Moore officiating.

Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
