Mr. Roger Clayton Powell, 54, of the Battle Creek area near South Pittsburg, TN died in a Chattanooga hospital on Thursday, September 29, 2011.

Preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Powell, Mr. Powell was a former employee of T.A.C. Alloy, was of the Baptist faith and owned and operated the Kimball Barbeque for many years. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Jane Powell; and two nieces, Rhonda Almeda Guffy and Viola Powell.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jean Powell of Battle Creek area near South Pittsburg; his mother, Bonnie (Bobby) Woolard; sisters, Patty (Tommy) Davis and Almeda (Danny) Huff; brother, Charles Ray Powell, all of Lebanon, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale & Brenda Higdon, Johnny Higdon & Penny, David & Barbara Higdon, Judy & Randy Norman and Linda Anderson all of South Pittsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the South Pittsburg chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:00PM Central Time officiated by David Gudger.
