Rose Hibbs Jones, age 83, of South Pittsburg Mountain, departed this life Tuesday morning, June 29, 2021, in Chattanooga after an extended illness.

Rose was born May 21, 1938, in Marion County, Tennessee, to Oscar and Sarah Payne Hibbs, the fourth of their 17 children. She married Rev. J. B. Jones at Snowford Church on November 23, 1977.

She was a lifelong resident of Marion County and worked for several years at the South Pittsburg Knitting Mill. Rose enjoyed cooking, reading, and especially visiting the Smoky Mountains. She was a faithful member of the Orme Mountain Church of God for 73 years where she taught Sunday School for 60 years.

Rose is survived by her husband J. B. Jones; step-children Arlene (David) Pearson, Stevenson, and Bobby Jones, Madison; step-grandchildren Alan and Amanda Pearson and Jesse and Tyler Murrell. She also leaves 11 siblings: Raymond (Naomi) Hibbs, Sue (John B.) Giles, Wilma (Jimmy) Haun, Freda (John) Sitz, Roy (Ruth) Hibbs, Rachel Crawford, Charles Hibbs, Paul (Wilma) Hibbs, Danny (Gail) Hibbs, Johnny (Joyce) Hibbs, and Joe (Carol) Hibbs; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

She was preceded by her parents, stepdaughter Sue Jones Murrell, and siblings Alvin Hibbs, Robina Hibbs, Samuel Hibbs, Horace Hibbs, and Linda Hibbs.

Funeral services will be on Friday, July 2, at 2:30 pm (CST) at the Orme Mountain Church of God with Rev. Gordon Lee, Rev. Frank Young, and Rev. Johnny Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Orme Mountain Cemetery with Sammy Giles, Troy Bolton, Mark Hibbs, Jonathan Sitz, Stephen Hibbs, and Chad Hibbs serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 1, 2021  from 4:00 pm until  8:00 pm at Rogers Funeral Home, South Pittsburg, TN  and from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at the Orme Mountain Church prior to the service on Friday, July 2, 2021.
