February 23, 1926 – September 4, 2016
Roy William Parker, 90, of South Pittsburg, TN, died Sunday, September 4th.
He was the son of the late Charlie Parker and A. Z. McCallie Parker and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Parker Phipps.
He was a member of Sweedens Cove Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was also a 50 year member of Local #704 Ironworkers Union. Mr. Parker joined the Marines at the age of 17, served in WWII and was the oldest male resident of Sweedens Cove Community.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Woodfin Parker, of South Pittsburg, his children, Carol (Ricky) Hadaway of Jasper, TN, Anita "Bug" Parker, William (Anita) Parker, and Jerry Don Parker all of South Pittsburg, TN; grandchildren, Scott (Missy) Henderson, Beth (Jimmy) Hinkles, Tammy (Kevin) Rollins, Paige Parker, Garrett (Kelsey) Parker, Duane (Amy) Wynne, Ellen Wynne and Janie (Todd) Graham and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6, from 4 to 8 at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 7 at 1:00 PM with Elder Gene Thomas and Elder George Denmark officiating. Interment will be in Beene-Raulston Cemetery.
