Mrs. Ruby Catherine Hookey Wynne, 80, of Kingston, TN, formerly of South Pittsburg, TN died peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Born in South Pittsburg, TN on December 10, 1928 to the late Henry H. and Helen Hookey, she graduated from college with a teaching degree and taught in Alabama until she married Riley Wynne in 1954. Ruby and Riley spen their early married years in Stevenson, AL, later moving to Harriman, TN and then finally to Kingston, TN. Ruby was active in life until stricken with arthritis several years ago. Though she wasn't able to get out into the world, the world still came to her, through newspapers, books, television and most importantly, her family and friends.
Ruby is survived by her husband of 54 years, Riley; son, Jim and daughter-in-law, Myra; daughter, Cathye and son-in-law, Steve Palko; and joys of her life, grandsons, Jake and Mac.
The family would like to thank the Roane County EMS, the staff at Baptist West in ER and the 3rd Floor, and the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Renaissance Terrace in Rockwook, who made Ruby's last days as comfortable as possible. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 11AM CDT at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
