Mrs. Ruth Smith Hargis, 85, of Kimball, TN died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 11, 2011 in a Chattanooga hospital.

The daughter of the late Andrew and Sally Smith, she attended Grace Baptist Church in South Pittsburg. She loved her family, working with children and reading. Mrs. Hargis worked as an educator for 46 years, spending her early years at the Orme School and later teaching at South Pittsburg Elementary School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Newt Hargis; brothers, Jack Reames, Andrew Smith, Jr., Walter Reames, Cleve Reames and sisters, Nell Reames Rich, Tince Reames Payne and Kate Smith McFarland.

She is survived by her children, Sallie and David Wayne of Kimball; two grandsons, Andrew Wayne and Matthew Wayne of Kimball; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Grace Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 1pm Central time with Rev. Ronnie Case officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, September 12th from 5-9pm and on Tuesday, September 13th from10:30am - 12:30pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
