IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sam
Simmons
March 16, 1940 – August 17, 2023
Sam H. Simmons, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2023. He was born in Jasper, TN to Sam H. Simmons and Reba Rice Simmons.
Sam was one of ten children and was the oldest son.
Sam was a born again Christian, devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
His claimed Bible verse was Romans 8:28 KJV, "and we know that all things work together for the good of them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose".
He was a devoted husband of 63 years to his wife Patricia, a wonderful dad to their four children: Carol, Ray, Matthew, and Dale. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a real joy to him.
Sam was a self-employed well-known clock repairman for over fifty years. He was always keeping busy building, fixing, and putting his ideas to work. He was a whistler, and you could almost always find him around home whistling his tunes unconsciously, stopping occasionally to switch tunes.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Sam H. Simmons and Reba Rice Simmons, son, Dale Simmons, sisters; Sylvia Fry, Mildred Bitzel, Evelyn Cato and brother, Jack Simmons.
Sam is survived by his wife, Patricia J. Simmons; daughter, Carol (John) Smith, sons; Ray Simmons and Matthew (Marie) Simmons and daughter-in-law; Misty Simmons, twelve beloved grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, sisters; Louise Kincade and Treva (Bob) Mabbitt, brothers; Louis (Alice) Simmons and David (Helen) Simmons, along with a great number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers are Brian Moree, Keith Moree, Coty Simmons, Taylon Simmons, Clint Simmons and Brandon Simmons.
The family will conduct a private graveside service with Pastor Mike Campbell officiating.
There will be no public visitation.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rogers Funeral Home, Jasper Chapel, 21 E. Fifth St., Jasper, TN 37347.
