Brother Sam Burrows, 82, of Bridgeport, AL died Thursday, January 31, 2008 surrounded by his wife and children, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.The son of the late George Albert and Frankie Mae Brown Burrows, he was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy having served as bugler for the Bridgeport American Legion. He was also a former minister and a retired employee of TVA at Widow's Creek. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Richard Benjamin Hewgley; sister, Mildred B. Holland; brothers, Robert S. and John H. Burrows.He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Billie Carter Burrows of Bridgeport, AL; children, Teena and John Hewgley of South Pittsburg and Sammy Burrows and his fiance, Terry Lea of Manchester, TN; grandchildren, Brian and Denise Hewgley of New York, Nick Burrows and friend, Katie Galloway of Chattanooga and Carter Legg Hewgley of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Grace Faris of South Pittsburg, Margaret (Aaron) Lee of Graysville, TN; brother, Buddy (Bessie) Burrows of Bridgeport, AL; brother-in-law, Jimmy Holland of Antioch, TN; brother-in-law, Dr. Jay Carter and his precious wife, Susan; sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Jere, Joan, Jamie, and Ruth; special friends, his home caretaker, Teena Green, John and Wilma Mashburn, and all of the faithful people who took care of him during his stay at Rivermont.Funeral services will be conducted from First Baptist Church in Bridgeport on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 2 PM CST with Reverend Jim Bernard and Don Elledge officiating.
