July 19, 1947 – January 24, 2022
Scott Hampton, 74, of Whitwell passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. Born in Chattanooga, TN, he was a life-long resident of South Pittsburg, TN, before moving to Whitwell, TN.
He was retired from the United States Air Force in 1984 after serving 19 years. Scott worked for the Marion County Sheriff's Dept., Grundy, Red Bank and Monteagle Police Departments and well as the City of South Pittsburg. After his retirement he volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents, Newton Scott Hampton, Sr., and Ophina Rose Lawson Hampton; sisters-in-law, Janet Hampton and son-in-law, Billy Roman Carver.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sonya Pickett Hampton; son, Anukul Nung (Marian) Hampton; daughters, Jin Hampton and Kristie Hampton Carver (late Billy Carver); brothers, George Hampton (late Janet Hampton), Tom (Cindy) Hampton; stepdaughter, Angie (Chris) Webb; uncle, Johnny Campbell, grandchildren; Gabrielle Hampton, Asia (Jesse) Knappen, Christian Carver, William Carver, Kyle Higa and Emalea Carver; step-grandchildren, Tanner Pickett (Jessica), Amber Webb (Gavin) and Taylor Trippe; great-grandchildren; Kayson Kilgore, Bryson Jones and Hudson Pickett, several nieces and nephews; Jenny Frame, Leigh (Marc) Lawrence, Chris (Melisa) Hampton, Tyler (Becca) Hampton; several great nephews; Walker, Thomas and Brooks, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm (CST) on February 19, 2022, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 400 Elm Street, South Pittsburg, TN. officiating will be Rev. David Tullock.
Military honors will be held at the church.
Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 until 2:00 pm (CST) prior to the memorial service.
