Obituary

Sherman A. Gaines, 87, of South Pittsburg, TN died Friday, November 12, 2010 at the home of his son in Nashville, TN.
The son of the late John Clyde and Annie Williams Gaines, he was a lifelong resident of South Pittsburg. He attended McReynolds High School and went on to serve his country in the Army during World War II. He retired from Lodge Manufacturing having worked as a molder for many years. Mr. Gaines was a member of Randolph United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Cumberland Lodge #90. He loved music and reading, especially his Bible. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lena Mae and brother, Fred Thurman Gaines.
He is survived by his son, Sherman Lebron Dennis of Antioch, TN; sister, Lucy Greer of South Pittsburg; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg at 1pm Central Time on Monday, November 15, 2010. Interment will be in Gaines Chapel Cemetery in the Battle Creek Community of South Pittsburg.
The family will receive friends at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 6-8pm Central Time.
