Obituary

Sidney Elledge Roberts, 80, of South Pittsburg, TN, passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 surrounded by her family.

She was born June 29,1940 in Bridgeport, AL to David and Lucy Toney.

Sidney and her first husband, Robert Willard Elledge, were married for 32 years, until his death in 1995. She spent many years working alongside him in his Otasco/Coast to Coast Hardware Store, and enjoyed other jobs at the cable company, Richard's Florist, and Goody's.

She eventually earned her teaching certificate and worked for the Head Start program.

Sidney was creative and blessed with a green thumb. She appreciated the beauty she saw all around her. She loved drinking her morning coffee in a swing on her back porch, looking up at the mountains and across her beautiful backyard. When December rolled around, Sidney created the most magical Christmas traditions (like "dinnertime gifts"), complete with outdoor lights and decorations for passersby to enjoy!

She loved her family, her grandkids, and her friends. She was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Sidney was preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Miles, Sue Elledge, Arthur Joe Toney, James Toney, and Aaron Toney.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Joe Roberts; son, Scott (Jennie) Elledge, of Augusta, GA; and three grandchildren, Zack Elledge, Sky Elledge and Maddy (Justin) Baker.

She is survived by her siblings David Toney, Fred (Susan) Toney, Donnie Toney, Marion Toney, Jackie Gainer, several nieces and nephews, and a host of brothers and sisters-in-love from the Toney, Elledge and Roberts families.

The family is especially grateful to Sidney's friend and loving caregiver, Landi Hood.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. (CST) Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper with Reverend Joe Moore officiating. Pallbearers will be Zack Elledge, Todd Elledge, Jesse Elledge, Marcus Horton, James Reynolds and Ricky Knoll.
