Stella Mitchell, 89, of South Pittsburg, TN died Monday, December 24, 2012 at her home.

Stella Mae Wells Mitchell was born to Samuel and Annie Wells on January 5, 1923 in Quincy, FL where she met and married her husband of 38 years, Samuel ("Tack head") Mitchell. The couple then moved to South Pittsburg, TN where she received her diploma from McReynolds High School. She was a Trial Elder and pastor of House of God Church, South Pittsburg for many years. She was also a member of the NAACP and Boy Scout Den Mother.

Elder Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, daughter and great grandson.

She leaves to cherish her memory: four sons, Samuel, Robert (Reata), Ray Mitchell all of South Pittsburg, TN and Harry (Diane) Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Rita (Robert) Petty and Kellie Mitchell both of South Pittsburg, TN; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-two great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and an array of relatives, church family and friends including, Daphne and Vickie of Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted from Grace Baptist Church in South Pittsburg on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM Central time with Bishop Martha J. Thomas and Elder Nicole Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Gaines Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 4th from 5-7 pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.
