Thomas "J.L." Anderson

Thomas “J.L.” Anderson, age 99, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Valley View Assisted Living in Whitwell, Tennessee.

J.L. was a lifelong resident of the Battle Creek community. He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Monteagle, Tennessee. J.L. worked as a coal miner for several years and was a hardworking man who will be remembered by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Myrtle Hatfield, Lee Anderson, and Ellen Anderson; five brothers, Bud, Willie, Hubert, Andy, and Frank Anderson.

Survivors include his three nephews, John W. Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, and Robert Anderson; and two nieces, Sara Billingsly and Peggy Pierce.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) at Tate Cemetery in Battle Creek, Tennessee, with Pastor Ronnie Case officiating.
