Velma Nelson Skyles, 85, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee died Thursday, August 10, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Minnie Nelson and attended Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Skyles, one son, Billy Skyles and a grandson, Paul Bryan Skyles. She is survived by her children, Alice (Jimmy) Pemberton, of Columbus, Georgia; Mary Sue (Howard) Pemberton, of Athens, Tennessee; Patsy (Jay) Hutchins, of Kimball, Tennessee; Brenda Skyles, Bill (Wanda) Skyles, James Skyles, and Bobby (Carolyn) Skyles, all of South Pittsburg; Paul (Shirley) Skyles, of Bridgeport, Alabama; and J. L. (Darlene) Skyles, of Buchanon, Tennessee; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, Saturday, August 12 at 2:00 PM, CDT with Rev. Cliff Hudson and Rev. Phillip Layne officiating. Interment will be in Cumberland View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, August 11, from 4-9 PM, CDT at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg. Memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
