Viola Deese Collins, 89, formerly of South Pittsburg, TN died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Matthews, NC.


Born in Concord, North Carolina to the late Henry Jackson and Ollie Elizabeth Hudson Deese, she was also a former resident of Buffalo Gap and San Angelo, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Austin Collins; brother, Jacob Raymond Deese; sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Clay of Concord, NC and Katie Louise Penninger of Harrisburg, NC; and half-sister, Sarah Alice Mullis of Harrisburg, NC.


She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Richard) Newell of Indian Trail, NC and Sylvia (Eddie) Howie of Matthews, NC; son, Jackie Kee of Charlotte, NC; half-brothers Billy Ray (Elsie) Smith of Charlotte, NC and John Henry Smith of Harrisburg, NC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Bean-Roulston Cemetery in the Sweetens Cove Community of South Pittsburg on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2 PM Central time with Rev. Joe Moore officiating.

There will be no visitation prior to the service.
