Virgie Irene Rector 98, the longest living member of the Sweetens Cove Community of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

She was a member of Martin Springs Baptist Church where she attended school as a young girl.

Virgie was born on September 28, 1923 to the late Van Coffelt and Bise Braden Coffelt.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dudley Rector, Sr., and her daughter Lucy Aline Stewart, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include her children Dudley Rector, Jr., and Tom Rector, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Jimmy Rector and Bisie Stewart of Richard City, Tennessee,  Johnny Rector of Stevenson, Alabama, Sarah Swafford and Mary Broad of Bridgeport, Alabama, Joe (Jackie) Rector of Scottsboro, Alabama.  Thirty-one grandchildren, 60 greatgrandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. (CST) in the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg, with Bro. Tracy Ferguson officiating.

Interment will follow at Beene  Raulston Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CST) and on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. (CST) prior to the funeral service in the chapel.
