Obituary

Virgil Adams, 88, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Versa Adams; brother, Royce A. Adams; nephews, Stephen Adams.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katheryn M. Adams, children, Michael M. Adams, and Norma A. Clark (Tony); grandchildren, Thomas Adams, Timothy Adams, Melanie A. Capps (Michael), Alexander Adams, James Adams, Heaven Clark, and Amos Campbell; great granddaughter, Annabeth Capps, several nieces and nephews.

Virgil was a graduate of Rhea County High School and had his B.S. in agriculture from UTK.  He was an Army Veteran of the United States Army.  He worked at the Home Store Creamery, Assistant County Agent in Marion County, City Recorder in South Pittsburg.  He was the first City Manager of Soddy Daisy, City Manager of Red Bank.  He later worked at CARCOGL/SETDD – Director of Community Development and was the owner of the House of 10,000 Picture Frames until he retired.

Virgil was a member of the Red Bank Baptist Church were he was both a deacon and Sunday School teacher.  He was a member of the Lions Club and Shriners.  He was a board member of Carter Bus Board and the Red Bank/ Soddy Daisy Charitable Foundation INC.

Due to weather conditions a funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in South Pittsburg, TN.

There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Gilliam Cemetery in South Pittsburg.
