Virginia Melton Witt, 92, of Bridgeport, AL, died Friday, March 20, 2015 in a local nursing home.


The daughter of the late William and Lucinda Sloan Melton, she was the oldest member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Alabama. She was a very outgoing person with a perpetually happy disposition. When her health allowed, she enjoyed going to yard sales and crocheting.


She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Witt; son-in-law, Jimmy Galovich; and seven siblings.


She is survived by two daughters, Cecietta (Carl) Case of South Pittsburg and Inda Galovich of Bridgeport, AL; grandchildren, Richard (Jama) Galovich of Bridgeport, Susan (Gordon) Breaux of Moorcroft, WY, Lele (Tracy) Hulvey of New Hope, TN, Patrick (Jaime) Case of Clinton, TN and Mary Jane (Jacky) Wilkins of Bridgeport, AL; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, including, Melista Newby.


Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 2pm Central time with Rev. Ronnie Case and Rev. Owen Durham officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN.


The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, March 21st from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Central time at the funeral home.
